Aunt Lisa Comes to Visit

My sister Lisa came to visit for our birthday weekend.  Sweet Brian surprised me with this for my birthday-though he is the WORST at keeping any kind of surprise secret.  We had a great time-and a busy time-while she was here.  She was 10 weeks pregnant at her visit and she is showing so early!  I wish I'd taken more pictures, though.  It was one of those weekends where you're so busy that you forget to take pictures of all of the things that you're doing.  I didn't even get a picture of the two of us!  Ah!  So here's an old one from Jackie's wedding:

It also doesn't help that she's camera shy!

Lisa and Kate definitely had their bonding time-they hadn't seen each other since September.  Harper also keeps talking about Lisa.  After we dropped her off at the airport she kept saying, "nooo.  I want Aunt Lisa back.  Where did she go?"  Hopefully we'll get to see each other again soon!

Harper's Birthday P-arrrgh-ty!

Harper has a recent obsession with pirates and princesses.  Can you say, "Jake and the Neverland Pirates?"  So, we had a Pirate Princess Birthday Party for the little 3 year old.

Luke-Harper and Luke play pirate and princess ALL of the time!
She-She (Lindsay) and Maddie

Me and my friend Lisa

I sent out email invitations and decided to do no presents this year.  Harper's birthday is so close to Christmas, plus she has grandparents 1,000 miles away who love to spoil her for her birthday.  Those were plenty of presents for a little 3 year old.  So we did no presents and gave people the option to donate to St. Jude.  We actually raised a bunch of money!

my littlest princess

We picked a big bounce place for her party and it was so nice.  I just brought all of the stuff and they set it up.  I will say it was impossible to get good pictures of the kids playing because they were moving and bouncing everywhere!

Violet and Harper.  Violet is the sweetest little girl I've ever met!  Harper loves Violet!

After the kids jumped we had pizza and cupcakes!  The kids' goody bags had pixie dust (stix), princess wands, a pirate sword, princess fruit snacks, and gold treasure (gold foil-wrapped chocolate pieces).

Do you like the Pirate's Booty?  We also had (root) Beer..arrgh!

I love Frankie and John-John's island gear!

Sunny and Lila!

 Happy Birthday, sweet girl!

Harper is 3 Years Old

Harper Rose Wallace, you are 3 years old!  You are a little girl and growing up so fast!  You are smart, fun, outgoing, stubborn, and spirited.  You have more energy than any kid I've ever met and you keep us all on our toes!

At 3 years old you

  • Weigh 28 pounds
  • Wear 3T clothes
  • Are potty-trained for the day time (mostly)
  • Sleep in a toddler day bed
  • Brush your teeth twice a day
  • Dress yourself-what a battle it is picking out weather-appropriate clothes with you!  You want to wear what you want to wear, leading me to...
  • Undress yourself about 15 times a day.  You want to wear a dress or nothing at all (really-nothing)
  • Go to Soccer Tots once a week and "love exercising"
  • Go to preschool twice a week in the mornings and do very well there.  Your teachers describe you as "busy"
  • Go to bed around 8 and wake up around 6:15.  You refuse to take a nap, but we sneak one in on the really busy days. much energy!
  • Read books and like to be rocked to sleep at night...usually by mommy
  • Love dressing up and playing "princess and beast"
  • Know when I skip a part in the book to move things along
  • Love your sweets
  • Call us mom and dad; lately you've been corrected for saying "fine, mom" when I ask you to do something!
  • Eat vegetables but aren't into much grown-up food.  You like mac and cheese, pizza, spaghetti, broccoli, peas, cheese, green beans, sweet potatoes, chicken nuggets, peanut butter and jelly, fruit, cinnamon cereal or oatmeal, crackers, snack foods, and little else.  We are slowly getting you to try new things.  Slowly...
  • Are the sweetest girl.  You are sympathetic to those who are sad, joyful with those who are happy. and are wonderful at sharing with those who look empty.
  • Are the most stubborn girl.  You have hit the "terribles."  I don't know when it will end, but we are really butting heads lately.  That's okay.  We still have our fun times too.
  • Play with your sister and your dog!  It makes me so happy to see you share with Kate and try to make her laugh.
  • Dance and sing all day long!  You are a ham!  You also love to paint, and I think you have a creative side for sure.
  • Count to 20, know your ABC's, count in spanish, know all of your colors and shapes, and have a general love of learning.  In every class, you're at the front so eager to learn.  Daddy will do French flash cards with you and you repeat them with an eager effort.
  • are so athletic.  Next to your love of learning, I think this is your strongest attribute.  Ha!  You are on the move and are fast, agile, and strong.  You always say that you like to exercise.
  • say funny things like, "noke" for milk, and "okey-nokey" for oatmeal.  Those were two of your first words and you just won't change them for anything.

Kate is 10 months old!

You are getting so BIG!
Kate got a kick out of our photo session today

and Harper did too!

Her bow was slipping,

she REFUSED to look at the camera,
and props to keep her busy...

kept her a little too busy.
Kate Wallace, you're a keeper!  You make us all laugh every day-and you never fail to crack yourself up too.  I love your funny personality that just gets bigger and bigger.

Kate, at 10 months you

  • WALK!  We're not talking a little hobble here and there.  You're walking everywhere!  It is really funny to see such a tiny girl walk around.  When you're in a hurry you crawl, of course.  But you are also so proud of yourself when you walk.  Your eyes get really big and you get this look like, "whoa, mom!  Check it out!"  We're watching you, girl, and you're amazing.
  • Wear 9-12 month clothes and size 3 diaper
  • Weigh around 18 lbs.
  • Have 4 teeth (bottom two center and 2 upper looks kind of funny without your two front top teeth)
  • Sleep from 7-7 and nap twice a day.  You are not into rocking and would rather put yourself to sleep.  I wish I could rock you, but I'll take a good sleeper!
  • Babble two words "bye-bye" and "da-da."
  • Wave
  • Dance whenever you hear music-and you looooove music
  • Get a kick out of your sister.  Wherever she goes, you go.  She's starting to like that too.  You two get along great.  She wakes you in the morning and you both love that special time.
  • Start "singing" along when I sing songs to you.
  • Eat rice cereal, sweet potatoes, peas, yogurt melts, puffs, corn puffs, apple sauce, prunes, beets, squash, corn, pasta, yogurt, berries, oatmeal, bananas, broccoli, green beans, and mum-mum rice teething biscuits.  You're getting good at finger foods, but still can't stand the texture of meat.  You also like to hold your own bottle now too-and you eat fast!
  • Are so easy to take places!
  • Love to climb-scary!  You can climb the stairs so fast, and I have to keep a close eye on you all of the time.
  • You also race to the kitchen when I'm in there and get into the drawers.  Your big thing is to pull all of the dish towels out and throw them around the floor.
  • Take baths with your sister
  • SQUIRM!  It is nearly impossible to dress you!
Kate, you're just so sweet and good and funny and snuggly!  You don't miss a thing and you're always watching everyone around you.  Your facial expressions are hilarious!  We love you sweet girl!  More than I could have ever imagined.
