16 Weeks

Our little tiny baby has toenails!  How cute is that?  More importantly, and just as awesome, his or her heart pumps 25 quarts of blood a day.  Whew!

I need to stand a little bit more sideways for these shots.  It is kind of hard to see an outline.  Okay, maybe not that hard.

  • Baby's size:  4 1/2 inches from crown to rump (though the book says 7 inches, so the jury's out on that one), about the size of an avocado, and weighing 3 1/2 ounces.  I'm preparing for a growth spurt over the next few weeks-he or she will double in size!

  • My weight gain this month:  2 pounds.  I stepped on the scale this afternoon and I've gained 2 pounds in the past month.  I've been really sick.

  • Clothes:  maternity pants and shirts; I got a few more casual things from Old Navy and Motherhood because most of my clothes from last time are work clothes.  I got some cute leggings and I am going to be living in them.  Comfy!

  • Cravings:  SWEET ICED TEA!  I have a cup of tea in the morning and a cup of decaf green tea at night.  Love love love it.  That is all I crave.

  • Aversions:  greasy food.  It changes.

  • How I'm feeling:  still throwing up once or twice a day-once in the morning and once in the afternoon.  I'm sleeping much better, though!  At first I tossed and turned at night, but I'm sleeping great.  I'm having the strangest dreams, though.  They are WEIRD and vivid. Most of them are bad.  I read that the dreams are apparently a way for my mind to cope with any anxieties I might be having.  I have to say, I've been a little anxious about the baby.  Until I feel it moving every day, it is hard going 4 weeks without really knowing if he or she is okay.  I go to the doctor this week, though, so that's good.  I also asked Brian if we're still NOT going to find out the sex and he is sure.  I'm kind of wishing we would so that we could start decorating and getting things ready, but he's pretty adamant.  So, we'll continue with the plan to be surprised at the birth.  EEK!  I'm excited.

  • My favorite thing this week:  sleeping in on Saturday.  Brian got up with Harper and let me sleep in an extra 2 hours.  It was wonderful.
